7th edition of this event where you can enjoy Barcelona's terraces

Here we are for another edition of the Open Terrace Week in Barcelona. This year with a participation record of 73 hotels for the 7th edition. Summer is already here; the temperatures are suddenly higher and it's good to go out to enjoy the breeze of the last hours of the day at sunset. The hotels know this well… and the hotels with terraces know it even more.

Seven years ago they formed this initiative in order to strengthen ties with Barcelona's residents and demonstrate that they don't just care about tourists. Be that as it may, the truth is that it was a success. The fact that they open the doors of their terraces, whereas the rest of the year they're closed to the public, makes everyone enjoy a view that's normally hidden away. And they do it big, since they offer all kinds of activities free of charge. From concerts to gastronomic workshops, swimming exhibitions and children's activities.

Dancing on the terraces of Barcelona

Instagram contest

Like last year, you'll have the opportunity to participate in a contest organised by the hotels through Instagram. It's all about immortalising the best photos of terraces and Bodegas Torres Wine, who sponsor of the event.

Prizes are organised in these two categories. The winner of the best terrace-themed photo will win a night for two at Hotel Arts Barcelona. Whoever wins the prize for the best snapshot of the Torres Wine will get a day at the Torres Universe with activities including a Catalan lunch in the "El Mercat" restaurant in Vilafranca del Penedés, a visit to the Bodegas Torres with a VIP tour, lunch at the Mas Rabell, a visit to the Jean Leon winery where you'll enjoy wine tasting, and to finish, a dinner for two at the Vinoteca on Passeig de Gracia.

To participate simply publish the photos you want on Instagram with the hashtag #SetmanaTerrasses17 and follow the @mesqhotels and @bodegastorres accounts.

But if you don't participate for pleasure, do it for solidarity; this year, hotels will donate €1000 to Invisible Hotel for 1000 photos on Instagram. Invisible Hotel is a solidarity campaign that wants to raise awareness and funds to help people living in situations of poverty, violence, lack of opportunities or helplessness.
