Charity work

Shakira is heavily involved in a number of charities, including her own foundation. Her work mainly focuses on universal education and early childhood development. In October 2011, President Barack Obama appointed Shakira to the President's Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for Hispanics, a commission dedicated to advising Obama and Secretary Arne Duncan on issues of educational success related to Hispanic students. She is also a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and was honoured by the United Nations' International Labor Organisation for her philanthropic efforts in 2010.

Pies Descalzos
